Jo-Mari Anna Pot of the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, who recently did an internship with ICELDA and completed a dissertation on the diagnostic information yielded by our Test of Academic Literacy for Postgraduate Students (TALPS), has won a prize at the Juniorendag of Anéla. Anéla is the Dutch association of applied linguistics/Nederlandse Vereniging voor Toegepaste Taalwetenschap.

Jo-Mari With funding from the Department of Science and Technology, the National Research Foundation (NRF) annually makes available a number of internships to postgraduate students. For 2014/15, Jo-Mari Myburgh has been appointed, with Prof. Albert Weideman as her mentor. As part of her work on her master’s dissertation, “The design, development and refinement of a test for applicant interpreters at the University of the Free State,” she will be tasked with the design and piloting of a new ICELDA test for interpreters. Apart from this, she will also manage the administration of ICELDA’s other tests at the UFS. This work will break new ground, and expand our language assessment expertise.
