Jo-Mari With funding from the Department of Science and Technology, the National Research Foundation (NRF) annually makes available a number of internships to postgraduate students. For 2014/15, Jo-Mari Myburgh has been appointed, with Prof. Albert Weideman as her mentor. As part of her work on her master’s dissertation, “The design, development and refinement of a test for applicant interpreters at the University of the Free State,” she will be tasked with the design and piloting of a new ICELDA test for interpreters. Apart from this, she will also manage the administration of ICELDA’s other tests at the UFS. This work will break new ground, and expand our language assessment expertise.

In the most recent past, ICELDA has benefited from three such appointments: Marilize Pretorius, Rebecca Patterson, and Sanet Steyn. All are pursuing further postgraduate studies, and all are still involved with ICELDA either as project or research associates. We wish them, as well as our latest NRF-appointee, the very best.
