 Gustav Butler biosketch

Dr Gustav Butler is the subject chairperson of the Subject-group: Academic Literacy in the School of Languages at the Vaal Triangle Campus of North-West University.  His test development experience includes being a member of the team of test developers that developed the Test of Academic Literacy for Postgraduate Students (TALPS). His main research interests include academic literacy course design, the teaching and learning of academic literacy, the development of academic writing ability and the translation of academic literacy tests into other, specifically African languages.  He has previously worked at the now Tshwane University of Technology (in an Academic Development unit) and at the University of Pretoria as a lecturer at the Unit for Academic Literacy.
