Johannes Mahlasela biosketch
Johannes Tsietsi Mahlasela, ICELDA research associate, started his career as English and Sesotho teacher at a high school. He was promoted to the position of head of languages before being appointed as deputy principal. He was appointed as a junior lecturer at North West University (Vaal Triangle Campus) in 2010. He teaches academic literacy. His research focuses on language practice and applied language studies, with particular reference to Sesotho and English at secondary and university level. His scope of work encompasses translation, proofreading and language testing. He is presently doing a research on ICELDA’s Umalusi Home languages project.
